Sony Movie Channel Presents Its 2nd Annual ‘Music Movie Month’
‘Music Movie Month’ In July offers Themed Films, Documentaries, And Performances From Some Of The Industry’s Biggest Names, Starting July 1 At 10 P.M. ET
CULVER CITY, Calif., June 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Film and music collide, as Sony Movie Channel (SMC) presents its second annual “Music Movie Month,” starting Tuesday, July 1, at 10 p.m. ET, with NEIL YOUNG JOURNEYS, and Paul McCartney in WINGS OVER THE WORLD. The lineup also boasts in-depth performance documentaries featuring Jimi Hendrix and Mick Jagger in ROCK CITY (Tuesday, July 22) and Chuck Berry in LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL (Tuesday, July 15); classic films like BYE BYE BIRDIE (Wednesday, July 2) and THE BIG CHILL (Saturday, July 5); and acclaimed biopics THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY and LA BAMBA (Friday, July 4,) among others, before closing out with the 13-film music movie marathon on Tuesday, July 29, at 5 a.m. ET.
“Summer Sundays in HD” heats up with five critically acclaimed films, every week at 7 p.m. ET. This month’s lineup includes Celine Dion in CELINE: THROUGH THE EYES OF THE WORLD (July 6); Sharlto Copley in the sci-fi epic DISTRICT 9 (July 13); and a pair of eight-time Oscar winners with GANDHI (July 20), starring Ben Kingsley, and FROM HERE TO ETERNITY (July 27), starring Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr.
SMC honors legendary screenwriter Neil Simon with a special birthday marathon on Friday, July 4. Starting at 9 a.m. ET, the block features six of Simon’s most memorable films, such as the star-studded caper MURDER BY DEATH, with Alec Guinness and Peter Sellers; Peter Falk as THE CHEAP DETECTIVE; CALIFORNIA SUITE, with Alan Alda and Jane Fonda; Oscar®-nominated Marsha Mason in CHAPTER TWO and ONLY WHEN I LAUGH, with Kristy McNichol; and Chevy Chase and Goldie Hawn in SEEMS LIKE OLD TIMES.
