Camp Takota Treks to NAB Show
Producer Michael Goldfine and Stars Grace Helbig and Mamrie Hart to Present Super Session
April 1, 2014 – WASHINGTON, D.C. — NAB Show, the world’s largest annual conference and expo for professionals who create, manage and distribute entertainment across all platforms, will feature a Super Session highlighting one of the top trending independent films of 2014, “Camp Takota: Feature Filmmaking in the Age of YouTube” The Super Session will take place on Wednesday, April 9 at 2:30 p.m. in Las Vegas.
Panelists include the film’s producer, RockStream Studios’ Michael Goldfine; star Grace Helbig; and co-star and co-writer, Mamrie Hart. They will discuss the unique approach for the creation, marketing and distribution of this film. “Camp Takota” is ranked third on the iTunes Independent Movie Chart, below this year’s Best Picture Oscar-winner, “12 Years a Slave,” and Best Picture Oscar-nominee, “Dallas Buyers Club.” Beth Troutman, host of “RightThisMinute,” the nationally syndicated television program covering online video, will moderate the session, which will also stream live on NABShow.com.
“Camp Takota” is a made-for-digital, feature-length comedy. With her personal and professional life in shambles, Elise (Helbig) takes a job as a counselor at her old summer camp, where she reunites with two estranged friends (Hannah Hart & Mamrie Hart) who attended camp and never left. When the future of the camp is put in jeopardy, the three friends must save it, changing the course of their lives. The power of the stars’ followings generated intense anticipation for the film. The initial trailer pulled in hundreds of thousands of views.
Michael Goldfine is the founder and president of RockStream Studios, a Los Angeles-based digital media company focused on combining new methods of content creation and digital technology with emerging models of distribution. Goldfine is credited with enhancing digital outreach for major telecasts including the Academy Awards, the Olympics and the Grammys. Goldfine’s successful producing career includes television shows “American Idol,” “Extra!” and “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” plus Kevin Hart’s recent film “Let Me Explain.”
Comedic writer and YouTube sensation Mamrie Hart created the pop culture, mixology show, “You Deserve a Drink,” with fellow comedian Grace Helbig. The former Upright Citizens Brigade member continues to perform sketch comedy throughout New York City and sings with her band, Cudzoo & the Faggettes.
